Crochet, Cats and the insane world of Yarn and Fur

School starts tomorrow! August 15, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — crazycrochetandcatlady @ 12:37 am

I can barely belive it, but my kids start school tomorrow. My daughter will be a senior and my son a sophmore. I’m getting old!!!! LOL!

I’m kind of glad because then we will have a much more strict schedule and easier to keep things in line. Summer is fun, but it’s nice to get back to a schedule.

I’m including a link to the news real concerning the town my parents live in. They are okay and so are all the rest of my family. I’m just grateful everything worked out so the injuries were very minimal.

Peru wearing hats

This is the kids wearing a hat called a “garro” (I think this is right…) This time the pic is a little better, I think I have the size a little better than the first one. Calees is wearing the silver grey top/dress.

I’m going to post a few pics (if I can) of her trip to Peru. Let’s see how this first one goes and we will see where it ends up!

Peru Update March 18, 2008

The last few days have been crazy! Calees has been on her way to Peru since Sunday. I pray they make it today! LOL! They ended up in El Salvador for the night – which wasn’t on the flight plan! I’ve been checking with the company and hopefully they will be in Peru tonight and can get back on track with their tour. I can’t wait to see what pictures she will be coming back with.

The bag is DONE!!!!! March 12, 2008

Okay – just gotta get the pictures taken and posted. It was a great project and now I’ve just got to get the pattern written up. That will take some time to finish, but I’ll work on it over the next few days. So far my daughter loves it. She was messing with it last night, trying to figure out exactly what will fit in it. I’ve got to adjust the straps a little, they are a bit too long.

So hang on till tonight for the pics!

green-hippo.jpg

I got this pattern from one of my very favorite websites, http://bittersweetblog.wordpress.com/2007/03/12/hungry-hungry-hippo/ and made it for my sister. She loves hippos and green so… voila! There appeared a very green hippo!

I’m very tired today. But I’m getting really close to finishing the bag for Calees. I’m really liking how it is turning out.

If I can get it finished today I’ll post a picture of it. I’m finishing up the straps for it. She wants it to go across the shoulder and be about waist high for the finished product.

I have to admit, this has been a good project for me. It’s been difficult living up to my daughter’s standards, (the artist) and my own. But it’s almost done and a finished project is always a good project!

Greetings from the world of yarn and fur! March 1, 2008

Filed under: Free for all! — crazycrochetandcatlady @ 3:55 am

This is my first post from the world of yarn and fur. I do hope to post here often and begin keeping up with the fuzzy world.

As my blog suggests, I am addicted to crochet and in love with my cats. We have multiples and they are special in their own ways. My crochet is a big part of my life since I do special orders and teach locally. I’m just beginining to work on writing up my patterns and hopefully will be able to share them with you.

That’s all for tonight. I’m working on a tapestry crochet bag for my daughter who is going to Peru in 2 weeks. I’m making it with the new Bernat Alpaca Natura Blends and sending it, along with money, to Peru so she can bring me back Alpaca yarn from the source! Once it’s finished I’ll post a picture of it.

Happy purring and hooking!
